AST Teachers are
- Knowledgeable and continual learners of best practices for the age group and the subject area taug
- Well-prepared for each lesson, and guide learning in a student-engaging manner.
- Keep current with AST policy and curriculum guidelines.
- Active participants in curriculum, policy, and procedure revision processes.
AST Teachers
- Maintain a visually positive, and safe learning environment in the classroom
- Communicate with all members of the AST community in an appropriate manner showing respect for the multinational, multicultural environment in which we work.
- Attend and constructively participate in all meetings as scheduled.
- Take advantage of the numerous possibilities for professional development to remain current in best practices related to the level and subject area(s) taught and to further specific areas of targeted growth identified by the school.
- Participate in the achievement of school-wide goals and student success, including curriculum development activities.
- Continually seek to develop professional technology skills to further creativity, relevance, efficiency, organization, and communication in instruction and the learning environment.
AST teachers also:
- Attend supervisory duties promptly and efficiently as assigned.
- Attend evening functions as the activity necessitates; voluntary participation is appreciated
- Maintain up-to-date curriculum in school database - scope and sequence and unit plans
- Create written daily plans by the week
- Maintain up-to-date accurate textbook, supply, and supplementary and classroom equipment and furniture inventories.
- Contribute to the After-School Activities program.
- Maintain appropriate professional behaviors and attire at all times
AST Teacher Qualifications Desired
- Minimum of BA degree with education-related coursework
- Classroom experience preferred
- High-energy and enthusiastic about working in a creative 21st-century school learning environment. Innovative thinker and life-long learner.
- Designs student-centered learning experiences
- Outstanding interpersonal skills. Naturally collaborative.
- Excellent organizational skills. Detail-oriented.
- Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
- Able to adjust to living in a new culture - flexible and resilient
- Applies knowledge, and seeks learning, of integration of IT in the teaching/learning/assessment process
- International experience
