School Trips & Inter Session
Tangier and the entire Kingdom of Morocco are home to a wide variety of destinations that support, enrich, and extend our curriculum. There are many curriculum-based trips that can happen throughout the year. Our proximity to Europe and other countries in the MENA region make Tangier an ideal post for exploring.
The Inter-Session week at AST (AST IS) is an integral part of the high school curriculum. In high school, our AST IS week is when our normal timetable is forgotten and students take part in a variety of activities, either school-based, within Morocco, or at destinations around the region. For example, in the past year, our high school students chose between trips to Barcelona, Sevilla, the mountains of Morocco, as well learning to sail in Tangier or volunteering in our elementary classes.
The experiences our students encounter are enriching, educational, and enable students to make a connection between what they learn in school and the real world outside of our campus. Students are given the opportunity to grow, to reinforce, or to develop a strong self-image through the achievement of meaningful work, an adventure, or new cultural understanding. Most of all, our AST IS program proves that learning can indeed be fun.
As a school community, we are reminded through these experiences the value of community and relationships. Relationships are forged between participants, between AST and other organizations, and between our students and people outside of our community. The friendships and the memories students take away from AST IS are in many cases life-changing.
