Athletics – MASAC
The Maroc-American Schools Athletic Conference (MASAC) was originally formed in 1990 to formalize the athletic competition between the then three American schools in Morocco. Prior to 1990, tournaments between these schools were named Tri-School Tournaments. Founding member schools were the American School of Tangier, Casablanca American School and the Rabat American School. The conference was reorganized in the fall of 2005, to include Casablanca American School, Rabat American School, George Washington Academy, and Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane. The American School of Marrakesh, American Academy of Casablanca participated by invitation starting in 2011, and are now partial members, participating in some but not all levels. The American Cooperative School of Tunis became a partial member in the 2018 academic year.
The purpose of this organization is to provide seasonal sporting events for student-athletes of the member schools. The MASAC conference intends to foster keen athletic competition, governed by the most recent rules from the appropriate international sporting organization. Competitors, coaches, and spectators are expected to display a high level of sportsmanship and to observe the code of conduct agreed upon by the member schools, and which is outlined in the MASAC Handbook.
